Today, on our way to school, Lyla was crying. She kept crying over her show that it was not right. Her shoe was bothering her so bad. It just wasn't going to work. She took it off and put it on the seat in the front of the car and then stared at her shoe like it was the most terrible thing ever. She tried again and it still wasn't right. She stared at it again and then tried again. Tears. True tears that her shoe wasn't right. She was yelling saying that the one shoe just all of a sudden got too small. It is just one shoe and I just bought them, so I know that was impossible. I told her to just put it on, tie it and go to school. It told her that when she got to her friends, she would forget it and it would be fine. She left. I felt bad for her. It is hard to end school. It is hard to start the summer. It is exciting. It is fun. It changes everything that you know as a kid. Your whole schedule is different. Everything. Poor Lyla. I know that her shoe wasn't really too small. I just know that she is having a tough time with the thought of school ending. Sad. I love the end of school, but I hate it at the same time.
Here is a cute little picture of her. She always tries to stock her tongue out when I take pictures. I have to be fast!
I was mad today at the girl who does my hair. I have been waiting for an appointment for about 1 month. Lyla ended up having a presentation at school that I need to go to, so today I canceled the appointment. She wrote me back and said that next appointment, she is going to take a credit card number to charge me if I reschedule. I have never rescheduled my appointment and now I am going somewhere else. Annoying. Why can't people be nice?! She didn't even have to say anything.
Lyla had a Volleyball game today. She served it over the net! Hooray. She has learned so much from her first season of volleyball. Her coaches are nice and she has loved it. She is ready to be done, but has had a very nice time doing it. She had a party today at Alfy's. I don't like Alfy's. It is a really strange place to have a party, but everyone seems to want to have parties at Alfy's. We ate pizza, cake and got trophies. It was over and done in 30 minutes. We had to pay $25 per family. That is a little pricey, but the kids liked it, so that is fine. Strange.
Max was super funny today. He just kept talking and talking. We were on our way home from Alfy's and I held his hand for a minute and told him his hands were soft. He said it is because he doesn't hold any crab. I asked him what he was talking about and he said that it was because he didn't hold any crab when we went to the beach and that is why his hands were soft. Totally random, but if that is why he wants to believe that he has soft hands... okay. Funny guy.
Alysa and her boyfriend broke up today. She is sad. He is a junior and just says that "things are different" and it doesn't make sense to keep dating when he will be a senior next year. I told her that her whole world just opened up and she just needed to have fun. She agreed. She will be just fine. Poor thing. It is hard to break up.
I was reading my blog today and have so many stories of the kids. I love them all. This year, I have been writing in a small book. Some of the things that the kids do or say. I was reading it to Lyla the other day and she started weeping. She said that she loved my little book so much that she wanted to always keep it. She told Alysa about it and they were fighting over who would get to keep it. Hooray. I didn't know that my little book would cause a small fight. I am trying to get my picture books all caught up and my papers all organized. I went through all of the papers in the garage the other day and separated them into bins. It felt amazing to get everything together. Now I can finish Lyla's 5th year book. I wanted to add a few papers from Kindergarten and now they are together. Yay me!
Ryan came downstairs and was so excited that he finished his one book. He wanted the next one. We got on the library and got it. He is for sure a reader. He could read all day long if it is the right book. He was sitting next to me after we found the book and we saw a commercial for getting rid of a double chin and he looked so shocked as to why people would want to do that. He didn't like that commercial. Ha! Ryan is so cute. He is always looking for a deal or a trade. He has allowed Lyla to "borrow" his Rudolph toy this week in exchange for her doing lots of things. Last night he told her she could have it if she made his bed one last time. He always seems to get what he wants.
Now time to go make breakfast. Only 6 more days left.
