Judgment Day

Today I took Max to school for band.  Before I took him, i told him to get his gym clothes.   He forgot.   I had to tell him that it was forgetting the first day, but on the second day, you are not focused and not forgetful anymore.  Especially when I reminded him in the night and in the morning.
I took his gym clothes over to the school when I took Alysa.  I didn't want to, but I did it anyway.   I tried to call him when I got there, but he didn't answer.   I finally decided to get out of the car and walk in the school in hopes of finding him.  I walked to the gym and luckily he was there.  I walked in the room and called his name and he didn't hear me.  Some girls were standing there and asked if I was Max's mom.  I told them I was and they were so excited.  Ha.  I was holding his gym clothes and one of them asked if I wanted them to give them to him.  I told her to throw them at him. and told her thank you.  She laughed and then ran over to give them to him.   I left.   As I left the girls watched me walk out of the room and talked amongst themselves.   I am not sure what they were talking about.   ha!   I love it.  Maybe they couldn't believe that I was Max's mom.  Maybe they liked the Christmas leggings that I was wearing.   Maybe they thought I was too young, too old.   Ha.  they are 12.  Not that it matters what they were talking about.

I went home and then got the 2 kids ready for school.   I bought some dishes for Christmas for their teachers. I was going to get a gift card somewhere, but Lyla was obsessed with giving her teacher some snickerdoodles.  I made them for Rob the day before, so we had some.  I put them in the cute dish and wrapped it up and tied a ribbon around it.  They both made a little note and then Ryan made some felt presents to stick on the side.

They were thrilled with their little gift.  (and the best news is..   the dish costs me $1.00 and the cookies didn't cost me anything since I already had the ingredients.)   Hooray for teacher gifts being done.  Hooray for $1.00.

I took them to school and Ryan left his sitting on the seat.  nice.   I yelled for him and he said that he was sorry, his head wasn't paying attention.  He said he would try harder.

I went to work and then after work I knew I needed to take care of everything myself since Eric had his work Christmas party.  We elected not to miss basketball practice and drum lessons to go to the party.

I took Ryan to drums at 4:30, then back up to my house to get Max and Alysa, then to the elementary school for Max's practice.  Then back down the road where I just was to take Alysa to volleyball and meet her friend.   then back up to my house to get Max and drop Ryan.  Then back down to take Max to a church thing with his friend.   Then back up to get Ryan and then finally I could go home.   I spent about 4 hours in the car driving.   It is crazy.

while we were waiting for Ryan to get done at practice, Lyla and I went to the store.  Lyla wanted to get stamp pads for her class.  Her teacher must have mentioned that they needed stamp pads and she has been obsessed ever since.   We got to Michael's and Lyla said "I only brought your boots, how are we going to go in?"   Great!   I picked her up and headed in the store with no shoes.  It was freezing cold outside.  We got our stamp pads and then quickly went away before anyone could see it.

Then.. we went to Costco.   We went in and immediately some lady said - where is her jacket and she has no shoes.   she is going to be sick.   I can't believe that you would allow her to wear no shoes!   I said - well we got all the way here before she told me that she didn't bring shoes.  She had a coat in the car, but elected not to wear it.   And we are just buying fruity snacks for her class and I didn't want to run all the way home.  This women just looked at me so disgusted.

Then we got around the other corner and then some other person said - it is a little cold to not wear shoes.  I explained to her once again that we got all the way here and then she told me she didn't grab her shoes only my boots and it would be impossible for her to wear them.   they shook their head and moved on.

As we were walking out of Costco with our no shoes and our fruit snacks, the people at the door said to her that it was so cold and asked her where her shoes were.  She explained it to them and they didn't say anything, but maybe you should remember them the next time.

Sometimes we are all so quick to judge.   We are quick to judge the situation.  We are quick to judge even though we have no idea what really happened.    The first women had no idea that I started out at 5:50 in the morning and then I had to run to the school 5 times today.    She had no idea that I drove down the same street 5 times.   She had no idea that typically Lyla has 5 pairs of shoes in the car, but that morning I happened to ask her to take the shoes out of the car.  She had no idea that she was already in the car when I got in and I didn't have any clue that she grabbed my shoes.   She had no idea that I was going to go insane if I had to talk about stamp pads or fruit snacks one more time.  She had no idea that I didn't have time to run up the street to my house to get shoes and then back to Costco and then back to get Ryan at practice.

I will, before I judge the person at any of the places that I go, remember that there is a story to ever side of the story.  It may be a good one, it may be an awful one, it may be full of excuses and it may be filled with things we have no idea.  It may be filled with a long day.  It may be filled with too many things to even explain.   Remember.   Remember..   everyone has their own things that they are dealing with.

Thank you women at Costco for reminding me to see all sides of the story.
