today.

I had to go and sit in the piano lesson today for Ryan.
Really.
Last week Ryan came out of his piano lesson and said that his teacher gave him a choice of either doing the piano or just sitting there for 20 minutes.     He was so happy and said that he chose the sitting there option.
I asked him what happened and he said that he chose sitting there and his teacher was just fine with it.   I looked in the book and the teacher wrote that little Ryan wouldn’t work with her and that she wanted me to come and sit in the lesson for next lesson.
I hated this.  Something had to be wrong.
I didn’t let Ryan play with his friend that night and told him that he needed to do the piano lesson the right way.
We practiced notes names this week and I asked him to story a bunch of times.   He said that the teacher didn’t understand what he was saying when he was saying D.  She thought that he was saying B.  Interesting.
We went to the lesson today and something is still a little off with the story that I heard.   The teacher indicated that she started the lesson and Ryan just tuned out.  She said that she would talk to him and ask him questions, but he didn’t respond.   Humm.   I told her that he learns very different than the other 2 kids.  He likes to figure out the whole rather than pieces.   We talked for a little while about what would work for him.   I told Ryan that he needed to talk to his teacher.   She said that he was super shy.   She said that he barely speaks when he is there.  he doesn’t answer any questions.  He doesn’t say that he doesn’t know.  he just sits there.   I know that he is super shy, but this still seemed very odd.   I just wish she would have called me rather than wasting my time and money by having him just sit.
After we talked, the teacher went through the lesson and he told he all of the notes on the piano.   He has hidden knowledge.   He understands what is happening and understands piano.   He doesn’t want her to know this.     Interesting little kid.
We are going to change his books and find something else that works for him.
I informed the teacher that one thing about Ryan is if there is something he doesn’t want to do, he won’t do it.   He refuses.  He just sits there.     I don’t know what I am going to do with this little guy.    I told her to call me if there is a problem again and I will help her.
Seriously.
On a side note….  I made a fruit smoothie with strawberries, orange juice, yogurt and spinach for Ryan.  he drank it all down.   I was so happy.   He doesn’t eat anything good for him.  This is a start.
I have been putting essential oils on Ryan at night to be calm and sleep good.   I asked him which one he wanted on tonight.  He said  “Mom, I don’t need them tonight.  I am already calm and am going to sleep just fine.”   ha ha.   Amazing what fruits and veges can do to a kid.   Fruit/vege smoothies every night!!
