Eric and I decided to take the boys camping and fishing this weekend. We went on Thursday night. We got up to Mirror Lake (in the Uintahs) and we were enjoying the scenery. It was so pretty. The lakes looked like glass, the trees had a slight wind that was perfect. We pay for our recreation fee and keep going to find the most perfect camping spot. We drive around and there are tons of spots, but they are reserved. We are sad about that. Then Eric realizes that they are reserved for the next night, but we are fine to stay in them Thursday night. We find our spot and go to pay. Seriously.. we don't have enough cash. We get settled in the spot and then we are going to head back to Kamas to get some more cash. Then Eric looks in the car and there just happens to be a check book. We are lucky. Hooray for that. We finish setting up our camp
and then head to the lake to see if we are able to catch any fish.

To our surprise, we catch two and then head back to the camp for dinner and sleeping. By this time, the bugs are terrible. They are swarming our bodies and faces. Seriously.... We eat our dinner and then head to the tent for bed. We lay there for a while and then everyone is asleep. Except me! I lay there listening the sounds of nature, people at the other camp, and Eric snoring. Finally after what seemed like 5 hours, I fall asleep. I wake up every hour or so because I am cold. I see the sun coming up. Thank goodness, it is time to wake up!! I am excited. Ryan is shivering. I pull him in my sleeping bag with me and fall sound asleep.
Apparently, this is what I need. We sleep for a bit, then we all wake up. We get out of the tent and have cereal for breakfast. The bugs are still really bad. I think that I have eaten about 20 by this time. We quickly pack up the camp and head to the lake for some early morning fishing. We sit and fish for a while and didn't really catch anything. Then 6 fish in a row. Eric didn't even have time to sit before the next one. Eric cleans the fish, I clean up and we head home.
The kids are thrilled to have caught some fish. Hooray for our buggy camping night.
We had a good time.

Lessons learned on the camping trip:
1. Bring enough cash
2. don't camp in a marshy area by a creek
3. pack really light when you are going camping for 1 night.
4. bring an extra pair of pants and shoes for Ry when we are going by a lake

5. Don't pick up the fish on the line without having him on the shore, or he may get away
6. Put sunscreen on before leaving the car
7. That I don't know how to put up a tent (eric learned this one).
8. Kids don't eat camp food, so have plenty of treats.
9. Make sure that you have a spot reserved at least 2 weeks in advance.
and 10. No matter if you are home or camping, you will wake up with Ry in your bed :)
