So....

So last night we were having a peaceful night. The kids were eating spaghetti and baby oranges. Ryan and I were reading books, Eric was eating roast and potatoes and then suddenly the night turned into pure chaos.

My little buddy Max, you see, is a jumper. He jumps off of everything. He jumps from the back of my couch to the floor, he jumps from the counter to the floor, he jumps from beds, the tramps, swings, etc. He loves to jump off of things onto the floor. We all remember this... yes that wonderful day just a short 4 months ago when Max jumped from the swing at the park and broke his left arm. He had that awful cast for 6 weeks and couldn't play his Smash Brothers game on the Wii. He couldn't take a bath, he couldn't do many things with that left arm out of use.

Well... it happened again. His poor little left arm. Little buddy decided he was done with his dinner and stood on the stool and of course, jumped off. Eric heard a snap and looked. His arm was clearly broken. No questioning, TOTALLY broken. Eric grabs his arm, Max is crying. I jump up to see what the problem is. His arm looks awful. It is like a zig-zag. This isn't what it is supposed to look like. I grab a blanket off of the couch and wrap it softly on his arm, I call my neighbor and run out the door with Eric to drop the kids off at my neighbors. I call my mom and say we are going to the hospital and tell her to pick up Alysa and Ryan at KayeLynn's house (thanks KayeLynn for being there and letting me drop them off). We head to InstaCare to see if they can do anything. The doctor takes a look and says - Nope, can't touch it, you have to go to Primarys. They put a pillow splint on his arm and we head on our way. Great! This is going to be a long night. Buddy, no more jumping!!!

This is the pillow splint. His arm is under the blue blanket by the tag and the ace bandage is wrapped around his body.

We drive, which seems to take forever!!! We get to the hospital and of course we have to wait. His poor little arm is so sore. We wait. and wait. and wait. Then we are in the room. Perfect. We have a movie and maybe they can put his arm back into place. We wait. and wait. and wait. Then finally IV, pain meds, x-rays, Ortho docs, sedation to re-set his arm, waking up, popsicles, sprite and after 5 hours in the ER, a splint on the recently broken arm, a Lortab presciption, instructions for the night, instructions for follow-up care we are on our way back home. Poor little buddy!! He was so brave and only had tears in the beginning and when they put the IV in his hand.

AHHHHHHHHHHH - this looks better than it did when it first happened.

Still smiling even when his arm is so sore. Sweet, sweet boy!!

Poor little arm. Both bones just snapped in two.

All set and back together again. We are going to be drinking tons of milk. He isn't getting anything else to drink forever!!

I have already told you everything. But need to comment...
I will watch your kids ANYTIME! I hate when bad things happen to my kids, I would do anything to spare them.
Good-Luck Max!!

Oh Em. I am so sad for him. I am so Lucky that we haven't had any broken bones yet to deal with. I can't believe twice in a year. You guys are such good parents. We love you!

Poor Max. Hopefully, he will think before he leaps next time. Andy said he would have passed out from the pain of that one! Wow! I hope I never have to see that kind of injury in my kids, I'd probably freak out and I would definitely NOT remember the camera!
